Beyond the shadows seeks to move beyond the here and now of today’s societal interpretations of what is considered to be real and true. The ultimate goal is to express thoughts and truths through the prism of the Eternal. It is written, ” You shall know the truth and the truth will make you free.” Journey with me as we explore together, Life, culture, history…the spirit of man and his behavior at its core. To put it succinctly, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts.” – William Shakespeare
The various roles a man plays before his exit or as he approaches his exit has appeared to be crucial to his inner peace before crossing that threshold. Usually what comes to mind are thought-provoking questions centered on his life’s worth, the impact he may have made to the audience and perhaps is there something greater beyond the shadows after life ends. Thus, the final question usually before that exit is did he earn the right to enter that new phase of life on the other side or is there even life on the other side. Some would even stipulate that the other side is not earned but given while others would issue an automatic entrance to some Elysium after the curtain is drawn and the drama over. These are extremely difficult and hard to face reality questions that comes upon the stage of life even before the end of one’s life. We will explore these truths and provoke the mind to look at man’s interpretations and choices he makes in the present as well as past. It should be prudent that mankind ultimately consider his decisions carefully and hopefully when he makes a choice, he finds himself on the right side of history.
Donald McLachlan speaks not from the lofty heights of enormous acclaim and accomplishment in academia, but rather a humble life of toil in youth development, education and church leadership for over twenty five years in the very hard to serve areas of New York City. He has given speeches and presentations including a joint effort with various collaborators at Yale University on “economic empowerment in underserved communities”. He has always strived since relinquishing a career in international banking to serve the people in a capacity of counseling, guidance, character building and education. This journey has given him a unique perspective on looking at life beyond the shadows, life beyond the status quo, life outside the box of the heralded ‘American Dream’. His most current works can be found on medium.com where he is a writer for four established publications. Please see the contact page for further information on acquiring youth development principles for the upliftment of our young people.
